This charter petition has been presented to the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) for the renewal of Yav Pem Suab Academy – Preparing for the Future Charter School (YPSA) on February 18, 2020. Yav Pem Suab translated from Hmong, means “Preparing for the Future,” and is pronounced Ya Bay Shooa. The 2020-2025 Charter Petition was approved by SCUSD on May 7, 2020.

2020 - 2025 Approved Charter Petition
Proposition 30, The Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act of 2012, approved by the voters on November 6, 2012, temporarily increases the states sales tax rate for all taxpayers and the personal income tax rates for upper-income taxpayers. The LCAP is an important component of the LCFF. Under the LCFF all LEAs are required to prepare an LCAP, which describes how they intend to meet annual goals for all pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities identified pursuant to EC Section 52060(d).

On November 8, 2022, California voters approved Proposition 28: The Arts and Music in Schools (AMS) Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act. The measure required the state to establish a new, ongoing program supporting arts instruction in schools beginning in 2023–24.
